Game Vision Statement

Image
Game Vision Statement https://www.bobfm.co.uk/frogun-a-3d-platform-game-announced-for-switch/ This picture is a way more detailed version of my kind of idea. GAME GENRE: For my games genre I was thinking of having a 3-D platform game I'm not sure how hard this is as I am a beginner but I am willing to give an easier version of the picture above a go. A new idea I was also thinking of was having it kind of like Temple run in a way that you're running continuously along the platform but you are avoiding bad guys in front of you rather than them chasing you. As said in a previous brainstorm I was maybe thinking of having everything wizard themed but if that proves too difficult I will just do any type of aesthetic that is available. GAMEPLAY: When it comes to gameplay as stated in the game genre I was thinking of having a wizard running along a platform avoiding evil monsters. You should be able to move to avoid them and jump to avoid th

Games MDA

Games MDA https://slidetodoc.com/the-mda-framework-mechanics-dynamics-aesthetics-some-common What intrigued and interested me the most when looking at this all of the resources to do with this topic was definitely how the MDA a process can help enhance your knowledge of game design and make your future project better. Looking more specifically I really enjoyed learning all the different aspects of mechanics, dynamics and aesthetics and seeing how all of these things are used to make games brilliant. It comes to mechanics I really like learning that there are multiple types of mechanics and not all of them you can interact with for example for an interactive one it could be like a gun, an enemy detector or a site in a gun but it can also be ones in the background all of this was very cool and I found it quite interesting and I didn't know before. When it comes to dynamics before reading and listening to the works I d

Unity Tutorial 03

Image
Unity Tutorial 03 https://www.logolynx.com/topic/unity+3d I really liked doing this unity tutorial it Took quite long to finish but it was fun. It is very cool to see how to move the different animals and how you can spawn them randomly or however you like. Another I thought was cool was making the farmer shoot pizza out I thought that was quite cool to do. A came across a couple of obstacles while doing these tasks as well for example I kept thinking I broke something or did something wrong but when looking back I forgot a couple of semi-colons after doing this it then fixed. I also felt there was a lot of very complicated code and techniques in the tutorials and if it wasn't for the videos I would not have a clue as to what's going on. But it was a cool experience to put in some of this code even if I didn't know what it meant and press play and see what happened. I feel like I could take some of the techniques that he

Feedback Strategies

Image
Feedback Strategies https://iusd.org/article/we-want-your-feedback-iusd-strategic-initiatives-survey After reading these articles I got a much clearer and broader insight into what feedback is and how it can be positively used to aid others in getting better at their skills and tasks in the future. I learned that feedback is such a critical way in which people can learn efficiently and practically and that making the mistake getting critical feedback and applying it is a fantastic way of learning. I learned a lot of good things while reading these articles for example what praise versus feedback is. I learned when giving feedback don't say mindless phrases like "try hard" and so on but actually ask questions about the persons thought process and how they can learn from mistakes that they might of made during this process. To encourage them to seek positive and negative feedback from you so they can grow and improve. Th

Game Idea Research

Image
Game Idea Research A general idea and a static that I'm thinking I want my game to look like.                                                       http://garara.net/game/wizard-hult The game idea that I decided to go for is a basic platform style game, but because I love Harry Potter so much I wanted the game to be wizard themed. I want that aesthetic throughout the whole game when it comes to things like the background, the character, the enemies and so on. Mechanic 01 The first mechanic I was thinking of putting in it is a jumping mechanic I want the character to be able to jump on platforms and go throughout the game jumping on these platforms to reach the end kind of like a Super Mario game. Hopefully I'll be able to add this mechanic I'm not sure how hard it will be. Mechanic 02 The second mechanic I would like to add to the game is there to be enemies. While the wizard character is going through the wizard world to

Unity Tutorial 02

Unity Tutorial 02  https://www.logolynx.com/topic/unity+3d I really enjoy doing this tutorial as the videos are quite straight forward and go step-by-step I really like transforming my game and making it more interactive. I learned how to actually take control of the vehicle by coding in things like making it go left and making it go right. Counsellor and how to control the speed of the car. I also really like the part where we made the car to be able to turn like a real car not side to side but fully around in what direction you want. At the start I kind of found difficulty with a number of things like actually getting the car to be able to go forward and back and so forth but with a couple of looks back at the videos and a bit of tweaking I think I got it. I also really liked that aspect of the tutorials where we are thought to keep everything neat and tidy because all of the obstacles were out

Game Elements

Game Elements                                                                                https://www.vskills.in/ certification/blog/ gamification-future-of-hr-in- india/ After reading these articles about game elements I got a much deeper insight into a lot of different processes that have to happen in order to make a game and also discussions to have to happen in order to make a game. I found a lot of things interesting firstly prototyping. I didn't realise that it is much better to head onto the prototyping and making of the game and not spend too much time on the iteration and thinking of the game because from what I learned the faster you get into prototyping the better your overall game will be. I also was very interested by what prototyping actually means when it comes to gaming that it means things like what is the main goal and what does the player get to do what is the surrounding scenery look what feeling sho

Feedback Thoughts

Image
Feedback Thoughts https://iusd.org/article/we-want-your-feedback-iusd-strategic-initiatives-survey While reading the articles I learn many things that I hadn't known before about feedback South diet and more it open my eyes as to why feedback is so important but also how to manage and progress when you might hear feedback or critiques you might like to hear. I learn different ways of getting rid of self-doubt when it comes to feedback and the creative field. For example try not compare yourself to other people. Often times comparing yourself is actually the culprit and not the solution to get rid of yourself that in most situations. So if you just let go and not care you end up taking more chances and start to do it because you enjoy it not because you want to be better than somebody else. Another thing to do with feedback and self-doubt is to not strive for perfection. Perfectionism can actually drive south doubt and only leads t

Game Brainstorm

Image
Game Brainstorm   https://smallbusinessify.com/how-to-brainstorm-business-ideas/ IDEA 01 (Resource: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BdlL5bwbCiI) My first idea for a game would be a platform based Mario style game. For a theme I think I would like to go with magic and wizards as I am very into Harry Potter. I was thinking the game could be styled with a magic and wizards type of aesthetic with stars and moons and creepy trees and so on. You can pick your character on whether you want to be a witch or a wizard and go through the game zapping bad guys with magic. For the bad guys I was thinking of making them look dark and scary kind of in the same realm and look as a Dementor from Harry Potter. I was also thinking while you were going to the game you can pick up things that look like books but they are called spells and you can use them to power yourself up or something like that. Unity Tutorial 01

Image
Unity Tutorial 01                                                 https://www.logolynx.com/topic/unity+3d I find doing the tutorials very interesting as I've never used Unity 3-D before it was very cool to see the game come to life as you add more and more elements. The tutorials were easy enough to follow as the man in the videos went slowly and step-by-step explaining everything thoroughly. At times I found it kind of hard as it is a new software that I've never seen before. For example I had difficulty trying to open the scripts as I did not know you were to open them in brackets. I had already brackets opened in a tab so when I was double-clicked the script I didn't know the script was showing up in the opened brackets tab. I looked on Discord and saw that someone had the same question and someone had answered that they opened it in brackets. So I clicked on my brackets tab and saw that the code was in there from

Game Design

Game design reading thoughts https://www.seamedu.com/blog/confused-between-game-design-and-game-development/ After reading the three articles I got a lot of deep knowledge about the process of game development and design. Things I had not known previously as I'm not massively into games or gaming. What intrigued me the most is how gruelling the process of even starting to produce a game is. That there are many types of ways of even starting to come up with ideas for a game. For example many people use brainstorming as a way of coming up at ideas but as the study that I read shown this is not suitable for everyone as many people believe the way people brainstorm is very important and a lot of people are doing it wrong and not professionally. Other people like to be alone like to go for walks or just get ideas from all around them by keeping their eyes open. This was very interesting to me and I didn't think comin

Time Strategies

Time Strategies                              https://www.quora.com/Why-is-time-management-important I really like time management strategies as it can be a good way to inform you on types of solutions for not getting stressed and also not procrastinating which are very good skills to try to implement into your life. The first article I read was how to beat procrastination. I definitely learned a lot from this article, in particular the fact that we are all programmed to procrastinate.  I also learned about I thing called "present bias" where for most people their brains tend to focus a lot more on the immediate hassle rather than the uncertain benefits that the hard tasks could give you in the future. I learned a good tip is to visualise how great it will be to get a hard task done and that if you can just picture it being done and sense of relief the task should be easier. The last thing I learned in tha

Technology Tools

TECHNOLOGY TOOLS                        https://www.allbusiness.com/tech-tools-small-business-impact-117353-1.html     I think learning all of these new tools is great as once we learn them we will know them forever and can carry them on into our lives after college. I am familiar with a couple of these tools but very briefly we did use blogs for the photography module last year and that was good and fun. I also know some basic image editing but nothing too advanced. This module seems very different to other classes as we are looking at a wide variety of different skills whereas maybe in other classes we are focusing on just one. I would like to work on the 3-D unity part as I've never seen or done that before so I think it would be cool skill to start to learn.

Assignments

Image
FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF WEEKLY TASKS                      https://thewalkingmermaid.com/blog/daily-weekly-and-monthly-blogging-tasks   On first impressions I really like a lot of the tasks that are mentioned on the website they seem quite interesting and informative. An assignments that intriguse me is growth mindset I really like the idea of learning about not being afraid of new challenges and learning how to overcome them without getting too stressed. I also think Wikipedia trails sounds quite intriguing as it sound like a fun way to learn more about what we are learning about in class. I also think looking into unity3D looks very fun as I never done it before. It is kind of like the image manipulation module from last year as in that module we had weekly tasks to complete as well.
